Oh how much more punishment can the Free People endure? Losing an entire curse squad must have hurt. I'm still alive and well and expect to see the end of this game. Can't say the same for the Free nations though. Looks like some are going to crumbling soon.

Crumbs, I remember you making this sort of statement months ago, and still ALL the Free nations are still alive and kicking.
I'm uncertain that we will win this one, but I guarantee you still have a long way to go before that happens.

Of course, I could be completely wrong and my post next week will be congratulating you on your victory as my MT's are reduced to ash and the corpses of my characters feed insects and rodents at the bottom of a ditch.....

As for all the Free Nations being alive, I imagine that you've got a bunch on respirators. The Northmen, Sinda, and Rohan all come to mind. And two more capitals are about to fall this turn, and you guys really can't do much to stop them.

Gondor, Woodmen are up next. I'll make sure to pay a visit to Northern Mirkwood and say 'Hi.' :)

Brendon. I agree with you 100% some of us were in a coma from the word go. But, this game has been very interesting. Probably a few more momentum switches than I have normally seen. Who knows, right now I feel like we have the edge, but what could happen next turn.

After all, I can admit, catching your fledgeling curse/sickness company was lucky. 98 pts.. Soooo close. But, thanks for returning Tinky back to its rightful owners. (Along with a few parting gifts from Cirdin. Hurray! Now all my navy can move through open seas as if they were coastal waters.

Legolas held his hand up to the light. The gold ring sparkled and glinted like a sparkly, glinty thing. It was a tight fit, and Legolas liked nothing more than a tight ring.
Sniffing, he took the ring off. It was just too plain, he preferred big sparkly gems and bright diamonds, and the odd writing that oftimes appeared gave him the same annoying headache he got whenever he sprayed too much perfume in his room without the window open.
Still, he thought he'd keep it on for another day, chances are it might grow on him......

In Barad-Dur, the Dark Lord of Mordor stirred. He could feel the Ring, and could feel that a new master had claimed it. What passed as fear for him gripped him as he touched the mind of this new Lord of the Rings and he recoiled at the utter gayness that he found there, for this new master was no King, he was a Queen......

Well, I have to admit we are hurting after another turn of top Free characters being murdered and cursed. But we did get a few of you aswell and Dol Guldur is ours at long, long last and I believe that a shipment of Khand gold turned up on the doorstep.

Freawul was burnt to the ground which hopefully hurt the IK, but you guys took Caras Galdhon again, which hurt me (gits).

Looks as though both sides might be hunting for that Ring now....

Last but not least, please thanks your friend, the Khand Easterling, of the gentle gift he sent us... I only hope that the life of any DS nation didn't depend of those money

However you lost Galadriel, Tharudan, Ecthelion, Golasgil, and a whole slew of other characters. Oh, and Bugrug is still alive and well, thank you. Yeah, we lost Ji, but the other 12 agents the Cloud Lord has running around more than makes up for it.

Oh, and looks like South Gondor isn't going to be around much longer.

I've known the DS would win ever since the Khand declared for the then-limping DS. Congrats! How well would the BS, Cloud Lord and Quiet Avenger being doing if the Khand player had kept his word and joined the Free when the Corsairs joined Sauron?

You have killed characters and won the war, but we have several points of pride: Minas Tirith, Dol Guldur, Angrenost, Imladris, Edoras, Pelargir, and many other original Major Towns that the DS will never take. Denethor II lives and since the curtain is coming down soon, he will live forever staring into the abyss, alone in the Tower of Ecthelion.

Fortunately there are other worlds and other wars to be fought. I would like to invite you to another opportunity at putting my head on a spike. This new contest would be a grudge match, 2950, 12 vs. 12. My team is ready.

Actually Nick, I do know exactly what happened between your side and Arturo, and quite frankly, you guys dropped the ball and never made much effort. Even after he said he would turn Free if the Corsairs went DS, we STILL tried to recruit him. Face it, your team just blew getting neutrals this game. You got the Duns, then tried to bully me. If the Rhun hadn't of dropped, and I know him personally and why he dropped, he'd have flipped DS as well back on turn 14 or whenever it was.

You make an attack on Arturo as a person, and I take it personally because I like the guy and have talked to him, so ***** off.

As for slapping me around in the game, it sure took you guys long enough to kick me out of the gap. But hey, I'm still around, and causing trouble, and now I'll be taking over South Gondor before I move out from Morgul, as the new and improved version of the Witch King/Dark Lts. and lay waste to everything you have. Try and stop me.

It's not that I'm a sore winner or you're a cry baby or anything like that, Nick, but you just suck. End of story.

I knew you would stoop to ad hominem. It suits your reputation. None of my teammates in any of my games has a problem with my character, so I'll just chalk it up to something that's "your problem."

Besides, other members of my team know that you were insulting to our kind words on Turn 1-4, with the whole Ost-in-Edhel issue. You were puffing out your chest, saying the age of Elves was over, and continuing the harsh language out of character even when we were being nice to you. It reflects upon your character that you never treated us with the same respect. That's why we killed Saruman and took Angrenost. And that's where the game will End. Our side is quitting out of protest for the Khand move. Not ONE of the original Free Peoples nations has been lost and you will never change that.

So we lost the neutrals in this game, big deal. There are other games and other worlds waiting. I'm going to try the grudge match route and hone my skills against and equal opponent.

It must cut a little too close to the bone for you knowing that the "DS" wouldn't have won this game at all if the (3 out of 4) neutrals weren't already committed to joining your side. You knew Arturo from another game. But I won't go into all of that again.

All I said about Arturo was that he went back on his word, and to my knowledge he has never rejected that claim. Careful you don't worsen your reputation Ben.

This is going to be my last post regarding this game, as I am beginning to tire of the bickering, which quite frankly is not only starting to ruin what has been my most enjoyable game to date, but making us all look a bit daft in front of our peers.

I hope that when the victors do their report, they do so with a bit of tact and a maybe a bit of respect for the opposition.

Too often mepbm game threads degenerate into gloating, name calling and tantrums that are best left in the school yard that rapidly spiral from being 'good-natured' into personal vendettas that then carry on into other games and then threaten to ruin them aswell.

Well, It is time for me to come out of the woodwork as well..

I wont get involved in the name calling, As I really have enjoyed these last few turns. Well, up until the last one. Congrats to the Noldo. I must admit I was surprised that you managed to escape that hex with not just a kill, but also unscathed. Well, sometimes even the cloud lord gets a bad roll..
But, I will say the noldo must be feeling a bit better about themselves. After all, that kill must make up for the fact that I killed every starting character of yours with the exception of one, and he was killed by the WK early on. Dont worry, I'll still come pay you a visit every once in a while. (Assuming that this game is going to continue..)

By the way, I wouldn't brag about those strongholds of freedom that will never be taken.. If I recall correctly, many have already been DS at one time or another, (and were at one time free) and I would bet a few more are within a turn or two again. Although, if you do drop, then I guess you could claim "victory" in that area..

None the less, I am still having fun, and Like Brendan hate to see us bicker in public.

Things are getting a bit hot in here. And I thought the fighting in Mirkwood was fierce! Sorry to hear that you guys are throwing in the towel. Krazy Khamul is actually healthy and I think I still had a good chance at recapturing most of Mirkwood.

With the Sinda removed from my doorstep, I was only fighting 3 nations in Mirkwood. No problem! That's easy as elf-pie! Sure, there is always a setback here and there but nothing I can't handle. That weasely Silvan nation is most likely digging more bomb shelters under his capital, and hoping the Noldo armies can stay in Mirkwood a little bit longer on this most recent invasion. :-)

I’m pleased to see that most of us have found our way to the new (and improved) forum.

So now too, the eighth is here (live from the abyss). And I must advise the Free Fellows of my sincerest appreciation for sending my colleague, Ji Indur, to join me in this ink-black emptiness. Perhaps now we can have some heat down here! Hoarmurath has been keeping the thermostat quite a bit lower than I prefer.

After Ji arrived, got settled and rewrapped his turban, we sat down to talk and have some tea. So much news to catch up on! I was sad to hear that my old playground of Osgiliath has been utterly destroyed; but heartened to hear of the recent demise of Aragorn, Ecthelion II, and (gasp!) Galadriel. The DS have tallied an impressive number of kills by any standard. Hmmmm?

So many freepish folk have died this game that for some nations (are you listening Naughty Noldo?) scarcely a starting character exists. Visual aide available upon request! Let’s just say that if kills were dollars, then the Cloud Lord would be our Cash Cow. Cha-ching! Oh – Sauron got us a phone down here so Ji (like me) will continue to direct his assassins in absentia.

What about my nation you ask? My commanders are blue collar worker bees – swarming over Gondor like a honey pot. The commanders of the Fire King are pontificating advocates of the might of Sauron! Like a terrible cold, my troops keep coming back. Sure, the free have eliminated about a dozen FK characters through various means. But my boys embrace death with a purposeful pride (expendability is a plus on resumes) and scores more orcs are waiting for their chance to lead FK troops into battle. You’ll be seeing them soon, Denethor.

Game 230 is my very first go at MEPBM, and I enjoy it very much. Thanks to all for making this first game so memorable. I must say however, at the top of the list of game playing tips I amassed this past year, it is the importance of recruiting neutrals. I did my part to get ‘em this game for sure – heck, we all did. The resolve of the DS to get the remaining neutrals was steeled after the Duns’ intentions became known so early.

I also learned that diplomacy, treachery, misinformation, and truthful intelligence (where appropriate) are tools employed by all sides in this quest. It was more than frustrating beginning my first game on a team with dry rot – meaning three of the positions were in stasis, while the free orchestrated consistent systematic feints and attacks in the pass and elsewhere. I thought my first game would end as quickly as it began and I was pretty bummed. The core of the DS (you know who we are) kept fighting and recruiting.

From my perspective, I think the neutrals in this game paid their money for ten turns or so and wanted to join (and thus create) an interesting game – not a landslide. Hence – we have a good game going (coming up on a year, right?). Seems to me this game could keep going for several more turns and for my part, I’d like to keep playing and learning in game 230. I like the “in-character” stuff too!
It’s a nub by now, Denny, but I’ll put down the chalk and take my seat. Let’s not erase the board just yet, huh?

I'm am sorry to hear that the Free is considering to give up this fight for MiddleEarth.

I took up the Dog Lord Nation on turn 13. At that point, I'm sure you noticed that Dendra Dwar was called out of the pub, and set out on the quest of revealing several pop centers.

I've slowly turned the nation around economically, and fielded what armies I could. What a nice surprise that Balrakur was talked out of leading a glorious army, and having fireside chats with Kynoden. But then, the conversation must have gone dry, and poison was slipped into his drink. He is no more. I later came to find out that Kynoden took refuge on the Eastern edge of the map, apparently waiting to be paid for future baby-sitting duties. Have I seen the last of him?

I don't have the big picture of this game, and maybe never will completely. I know that there has been some good play on both sides, and I'd like to see it continue a few more turns.

Now that Dol Guldur has been taken, I'd like to see that Khamul guy feed the daisies once and for all. Are you up to that challenge? That guy talks way too much.

You guys are still fielding some strong armies, and I'm sure there is still money in those vaults. I'd like to see a more turns where we'll have to say, "Man, these guys just don't give up!"
