But it's good to see that there are actually FP players involved in this game - we were beginning to fear it was some robot with lousy AI, or Harlequin merely produced some standard moves...

And just what 'abuse' is the WW supposedly taking from the DS? We're actively recruiting all of the Neutrals, though I wouldn't call that abuse.
So what's up with you guys moving an army to the WW camp at 1806 anyway? Talk about abuse!

It is good to hear from the brave men of Rhun,
There should be a few envoys waiting around your capital with previous news of the war, and a new one shall be dispatched soon.
I hope that you can see through the lies of the Nazgul, the rewards of joining Sauron shall be nought but ashes.

Jonathan:
Glad to see you checking in... the FP would welcome discussions with one of few neutral nations remaining in this game.
Personally, the Rhun Easterlings would prove to be an awesome ally to the FP. We desperately need an ally to the northeast to counter the ones in the south (Corsairs / Khand East). You are well aware the Corsairs have flipped DS and I suspect the Khand is next.
So we are starting to feel the pressure... what will it take for you to join us? Of course, I have plenty of time to talk... consider the DS have sucessfully kidnapped my four (4) highest ranked commanders - not a very good start for North Gondor.
Chris
Ulrik Bisgaard
6th February 2003, 06:38 PM
Desperate are we ????
Yes, I always favor the kidnap over assassinations - it's a true pain in the butt.
And you'll need all the allies you can get. With your Anduin offensive coming to a halt you need to have success in other areas to keep up the morale of men, elves and stunties. But be warned - there will be no success. Only defeat. Tirith - here we come.
Frosty, master of ice and many other things.

Wow! Are the Free so weak that they have to beg Neutrals to join them? I find it odd that you've written off so many of them when not one has declared openly. We won't make that mistake.
Rhun, your nation would make a fine addition to an outstanding DS team. We would be most interested in hearing your desires, and your thoughts on how to evict the Northmen from your rightful homeland.

Beg neutrals. Just what did you do to the Corsairs to get them onside then. Promising the world knowing only ashes and shallow or watery graves is in the offing is a bit off too. You really need to read a book on etiquet instead of those musty scrolls.
montgomery9535
7th February 2003, 02:55 PM
The DS have come crawling out of there pittiful mountain caves to spar with the FP. Clearly the DS have misinterpreted my message. Regrettably, Sauron's ministry of information seems to have put its own spin on my message to the Rhun.
Please understand, Minas Tirith's Minister of Tourism (formerly Argirion, then Boromir, then Baranor) now Faramir is gearing up for another orc convention. The bridge is open, the banners flying, and our army troops have been preparing for months now.
Unfortunately, the DS can't seem to get past Osgilath. North Gondor and our friendly neighbor to the South continue to send its greeting party to Osgilath to help escort the DS into Minas Tirith. But alas, after all said and done, the DS keep getting slaughter before crossing the bridge into Minas Tirith.
Please send my condolences to Sauron and the orc families. The Gondor nations are now encountering DS armies with Orc children wielding sticks and no armor with little or no training. Even with North Gondor's senior military leaders vactioning in Mordor (you have to love Reveal Character True spells), our well equiped and trained armies continue to bolster their morale by the continous orc slaughter that occurs in Osgilath.
Maybe with the Corsairs rushing (Turn 6 and already DS?) to Mordor's aid, Gondor will see some worthy military opponents.

The FP have not written off the any other neutrals... here is my personal assessment after Turn 6
Duns - neutral (unusually quiet)
WW - neutral (mixed messages)
Rhun - neutral (just joining the fun)
Corsair - DS (openly or not... with a huge navy landing on Sinda's town, I don't think there is any doubt)
Khand - neutral (leaning DS... why? call me silly, but I have never played a game in which the Khand flipped for the free)
Of course, I would gladly welcome any discussions with the Khand, Duns, Rhun, and WW to join us. Hell, I might even beg if it would work.
Oh by the way, please let the Corsairs know, we greatly appreciate the numerous messages, (err zero or none) he sent in response to our correspondence... I will give him the benefit of the doubt that he couldn't have possibly been pre-aligned?!?

Corsair here - just starting to use this forum and never could use the old one , my pc hated it for some reason.
As for diplomacy I did respond to a couple of early FP messages, one from SG and one from Noldo I think but never got anything in reply. FP diplomacy was very slow off the mark in comparision to DS as well, by the time I first heard from one of you asking me to think carefully about my decision I had been talking to the DS for about three turns.

SGondor reporting here... unless I overlooked an email, I never did hear from the Corsairs. I don't blame the Corsairs for taking the initiative, and I'm not surprised that our team didn't hear from them. The Corsairs is tilted towards going DS if they want a challenging game.
Remember, the teams have no way of contacting the neutrals unless the neutral nations respond to diplos or messages posted on this board. To my knowledge the Corsairs never made an effort to contact any of us.
I'll be happy with a 12 vs 13 scenerio, but any more of a tilt than that and this game will be a joke. Khand, White Wizard, Dunlendings, Easterlings of Rhun and Rhovanion, what do you say? I promise we can match any offer the DS are floating your way: artifacts, gold, territory, a sense of humor. Don't fear the Dark Tower and it's burning arse... join the Free!
Nick
montgomery9535
11th February 2003, 07:37 PM
Argh... let the swine Corsairs pirates meet their makers...
I agree with Nick on this issue - if the rest of the neutrals don't reply to our diplos... what chance do we have recruiting them?
I sent several friendly / open-ended messages to the Corsairs - and I got nada, zippy, none, zero... errr not one simple reply!
Hell, even when I asked for the Duns e-mail address... only the WW and KE responded... (good gaming gents).
We now know that Rhun was switching management (welcome again Jonathan). So that leaves the Corsairs (mysteriously quiet), who never got back to me.
So, in the spirit of the game, I would hope at least one or two neutral would join our side...
Since no one asked... If I had my choice, I would take WW and KE (in my dreams). Any luck we will get the Duns and Rhun (please?!?). If I am a betting man... I expect to see DS aligned Duns, WW and KE (and the supposed "undeclared" Corsairs - damn DS spin doctors).
Now maybe Jonathan (Rhun) would like me to grovel a bit more? yeah, yeah, whining and moaning... NG player... well I am tired of getting my butt kicked by these DS players... make it stop... go Free!
Battered and beaten, but still willing to fork out $6.80 every two weeks to keep playing... because this damn game is way to entertaining to stop...

Here I was, buying up some fine Sinda trinkets for sale to unsuspecting nomadic goat herders and the DS accuse me of callusion with the Free Peoples.
Now my villages are burned, DS emmisaries are trying to convert my people to Sauronic Utopian ideals and my commanders are being kidnapped. Not to mention poor Urig who just survived that spider encounter and ran straight home to tell his tale. Upon arrival he is challenged by some DS goon. Urig, suspecting he would win the drinking contest, was most surprised to find a sword sticking into his chest. Poor, poor Urig, only 15 health and forced to face off in combat and totally unaware......shucks
