As in many things, prevention is easier and better than cure. Explain the circumstance around the finding, losing, refinding and relosing of the Ring. Perhaps I can provide you with an insight.

Simple high mage locates, high mage picks up. High mage gets rid of arties except ring, drops ring.

2nd time high mage locates, high mage picks up, high mage moves, drops the ring.

Still to try 360ing the ring so that'll be next to??? 4 classes to choose from.
