Yes it's about time I rejoined the debate after a protracted time away. I would be getting very worried if I were you as you have yet to see any Cardy, Arthy or Rhu armies and you have only had one small Dun army to deal with. Start cranking those orcs out ....... your going to need them.

Hey Mayor of Munchkin Land,
Are you guys going to attack or what. All I see is FP icons running in circles out on the plains.Mordor is the big scary place with all the mountains and stuff, head that way.My knife is getting rusty,I need to oil it with your blood.

:o <yawn> Oh silly french midget,

I am sure you are aware that I have many powerful agents scattered throughout the lands of Middle Earth. Only I know where they will strike next. I have already killed and kidnapped many freep fools. More freep characters will die next turn, of that you can be sure ;)

Thelor--

Stop pussy footing around and take some decisive action... if you can think of any. You are making this game too easy. :)

Hallas... OMG! HALLAS! *turns to Nazghuls* Who raised him from the dead? I bet this has something to do with Fletch...
Seriously though glad to hear from you again. We have already encountered icons from Cardy, Arth, and Duns. Funny thing is as soon as we meet them they vanish! Wonder how that happens... :)

Hey, the only armies of mine you've tanked are the one's that were dealing with the Ex Witch King. We have been having a bit of trouble with the map we were given to get to Mordor. having a scenic tour through various forrests, quite pretty but no orcs to kill. We should be thouroughly drilled by the time we get there (thrust , twist, disembowel). Seeing you soon.

Hallas:cool:

Hallas,
You know what's really funny? You're dragging these troops all the way across Middle Earth for turn after turn. You pay for maintenence and you pay turn costs and when you finally get there, the commander will get a second bloody smile while the backup disapears and the army will disband. The ones that make it will burn to death or be cursed to death and the remaining troops will die on the walls of Morrannon or be slaughtered in the Pass. It's kind of sad and comical at the same time, don't you think?

100 men at arms under a com 10 is not an army. It just allows me to forgo a 215 every turn. You actually did me a favour, I have been able to replace a weener of a character with somebody more ........ robust.

Sincere Thanks, Hallas ;)

Come! Come now! You underestimate how devastating it is to lose a seed army with a nation that has hire for free SNA! We can still hear the cries!
I guess we will just have to redouble our efforts... Everyone's a critic.

As to why you bother to issue a 215 versus an agent is beyond my understadning. Keep thinking like that. :)

Hey, don't I know you people? Except this Herman fellow... Who is he and does he lead a real nation, or is he vying for a job with a marketting agency? Please advise that bragging that you've done no character development in over 15 turns is NOT going to land you many contracts around here. All the best, but keep your day job.

Why on earth would you try to improve a com 10? What a colossal waste of orders. He was too busy doing the weener capital orders that are so annoying but required.

Regards Hallas (The order miser)

Because he's one of the few starting 10-20 characters....a 10,000 gp guy most players covet and will name and continue to name throughout the game. But you know best.

Why spend 10,000 to name a guy that can be doubled, rending his command function all but useless for attacking when you can do the same thing for 5000 and have a character that can't be doubled and is a better ranked commander? I run the risk of the guy being kidnapped and being unable to escape but you would still have that risk (albeit slightly reduced) with a com/agent. It's only my second game but I can't see the advantage of a com/agent unless it's as a backup company commander?

Regards (the ever curious) Hallas:)

Mike Carr

Yes, you are correct. A 30-40 rank Com is so powerful he cannot be doubled or kidnapped. He is also immune to curses and may even be able to reduce fortifications through sheer might.:p

Doubling a character has nothing to do with Command rank...??? Methinks you've gotten confused. Of course, you're playing Cardolan, so you're not expected to understand the more subtle aspects of the game... "Lace em up! Charrrrrge!"

OK even I am now confused by this banter. This makes it much harder for me to enslave the rest of you and subjugate you all to my vain, self-serving will. Please desist. :)

No, only agents and emmys can be doubled, a pure com cannot be doubled.
A com 30-40 can quickly become a com 40-50 wheras a com 10 takes forever to be useful in attacks.
I was asking a question and stated my beliefs but Uvatha decided to show his wit by being sarcastic.

Shhh, don't mention his height, he's very touchy about it. We normally stand in trenches when talking to him, he feels more comfortable that way.

But seriously I would like to know why naming a C10/A20 is considered better than naming a straight com. Like I said it's only my second game, I'm still learning.

Regards (Still in first grade) Hallas:)

I sent you a private message. Did you get it?

Mike Carr

A 10/20 Com/Age can become a very useful character. After training up a bit he makes an excellent backup com, guarding the commander and either training troops or recruiting allowing the commander to do more useful orders. At the capitol he can really shine. In a previous game I had a 45/60ish com/age at the capitol with 100HI.He was able to do all my downgrades, execute capitol orders, and keep sticky fingers out of my treasury.Being an army com,he can't be doubled so there goes that worry and he freed up another agent from doing guard duty.Of course, you have to get him to a decent rank...10/20 won't cut it except as a company commander. There, not a bit of sarcasm.

Many thanks to those kind souls that took the time out to set me straight on multiclass characters, I have filed the information away for future good use. Meanwhile I will have to plod along in the pedestrian fashion I have started in and continue taking the scenic tour on my long and lonely way to Mordor.
