'Course you would. Here's an interesting truth about "experienced
players": Sooner or later they tend to rub each other up the wrong
way. This is because their "experience" gives them deep commitments to
radically different strategic dogmas. Regular teams of "old boys" who have
played together for years, rarely consist of 10 members. There's always a
healthy flow of stormed-off Prima Donnas and promising new recruits. This
wouldn't change.

*** Sorry your assumption is incorrect. The ratings have no relevance to
who you are allowed to play with. Actually I would use it to help me
balance new games more effectively as a side affect of having a better
grasp of individuals playing ability. (Checking your games I can see where
I specifically put experienced players in with your side specifically with
the aim of helping new players in the game and this sort of rating system
would help me to balance tighter games).

Personally it would be nice

*** Um what would this be? Your VPs are often a way of rating your overall
nation's success but has major drawbacks. We don't really have the
information to check this I am afraid - your team-mates would be best able
to judge how you did, or your good self.

Encourage individuals to send in critiques of teammates and opponents moves
after the game... Then anonomously forward them to the player they are
directed at.

For example, a poor communicator is likely to get many messages about how he
could improve his play by providing more information and being more
responsive to questions. A person that uses money foolishly may get a few
emails on how selling mounts at 3 to buy food at 5 probably wasn't a very
good move.

This is an effective way of providing feedback and improving a players
skill. Providing some list of "best payers" that is really little more than
a list of people that have completed the most games with a winning record,
is not.
