Glad to have you on board Corsairs. The war's a'looming with the Ice King already knocking on me door. The Witch King's probably not far behind!

Hopefully we'll get a few more people onto this thread and enjoy some jolly banter.

Greetings to all involved in game 227, including the delusional NG player.

The halls of Barad-dur are always open to ambassadors from the sovereign neutral nations.

Hope this is a challenging contest for all involved.

The Northmen are here, Sauron's minions may begin groveling and cowering in fear!

I look forward to a fine game with fine banter and bragging and bravado!

As for you noble neutral nations, let us communicate freely so you may enjoy the game fully, and make fair choices about who your enemies truly are <cough, the Dark Servants, cough>.

If you want I can send an emi over and you can transfer it next turn, it will save much heartache and death on your part....

Very bold moves in Mirkwood and the Anduin valley from you guys, looks to be an aggressive game......

Ps: I'm not sure how to take the BS's action at the back door comment. I'd heard rumours, and he did always walk funny compared to the other Nazgul....

Not the dreaded Mordorian Vorpal Bunny! Anything but that!

Macman
4th September 2003, 09:56 AM
The BS has always had his 'eccentricities'... we generally don't ask him about what goes on in the wizards' towers late at night... though he was instrumental in breeding the Mordorian Vorpal Bunny from the lesser Mordorian 'Big Teeth' Bunny. Perhaps there is a connection? Best NOT to ask these things though. The last time one of us asked... well... nobody talks about Shmengee, the tenth Nazgul do they... yes- it is best not to ask some questions...

Throw it on three. Not on two. Five is right out.

Mordor has begun overrunning Greenwood with hordes of horrible bunnies. The bunnies themselves bear striking, and distasteful, resemblences to Akhorahil, "Guardian of the Backdoor." Whatever that means.

Another gaffe by the Noldo Diplomatic Corps I'm afraid, we were reliably informed by a helpful fellow by the name of Mr Urza Hill that this was the best way to communicate with you....

Which beggars the question whether we should have followed his advice regarding the Dwarven group we sent to Larach Duhnan.

He said the Duns would be most impressed by our diplomatic entourage if they turned up in skirts, blind drunk with a gift of a dozen sheep for the purpose of strategic marriages......

Duns-227
9th September 2003, 09:52 AM
Dwarven Diplomatic entourage?.... Oh dear. We thought that they were affiliated with the nearby Circus troupe. Especially when they began balancing on each others shoulders and walking around. Things were going ok, until the ones on the bottom got hammered...

No one was injured, but there was substantial damage to the baseboards and ottomans...

There was something of a stir about the sheep though. Apparently, some miscreant turned them loose into the rooms of the Dragon-Lord delegates. There was quite a commotion for a while, but no sheep came out. I'm afraid the housekeeping staff will have quite the job when they depart...

The Shrel-Kain Pharmacy offers a wide range of poisons especially effective against orcs in easy to open squeeze tubes.

"When it comes to killing orcs, who needs thumbs?"

As a courtesy to our WK adversary, the Northmen are sending a shipment of BlackArrow, the anti-orc toxin, directly to your offspring. Right neighborly of us, I think.

So, what have you and your fellows been up to... can't be putting all your eggs into Mirkwood, can you? Don't make me come down there and "beat it out of your squeeze" (name that movie).

PS... what is the inevitable thing you are waiting for in Toronto?

Macman
25th September 2003, 08:45 AM
Toronto has had the Norwalk (spelling?) Virus, Sars, Mad Cow disease, Sars again, West Nile Virus, Power failures.... I'm sure that an asteroid is going to hit any day now...

As for eggs... I don't know what you're refering too... any ds icons seen in Mirkwood are obviously bands of soccer hooligans acting independantly and without direction or guidance from any of our nations. While we regret to see our nationals behaving in this less than congenial manner, we have no desire to interfere with the local governments' sovereignty and right to assert thier control over thier territory, nor do we wish to impede the fans right to enjoy the sights and sounds of Northern Mirkwood during the busy Footbal season.

Party on!

The Northmen have been tasked to begin receiving the dark servent diplomats to discuss the capitulation of Sauron's forces. First, you must tell Murazor he's fat. Then you must tell your orc legions that they look like elves.

Any surviving diplomats may then come to Shrel Kain for consultations.

Macman
1st October 2003, 01:06 PM
Sam- I don't think we'll see a lot of people meeting your terms...

Raoul

The assassin assigned to eliminate Boromir could not find him due to all of the smoke and dust rising from the ruins of Osgiliath.

There was an unconfirmed report that he was spotted hiding amid the rubble -- probably more afraid of what Denethor will do to him for failing to defend the the jewel of Gondor.

Are you sure he's a commander by training, and not a agent? The blood of Numenor -- what I like to think of as "Elf Lite" -- certainly flows in in veins -- he can hide like a Sindar and flee like a Noldor.

Cloud Lord

Macman

Perhaps he has Silvan blood... they seem to be alergic to Iron (at least, they never seem to be around when my troops draw it)

Woodmen- Silvan dude! Are you alive or what? I don't mind taking over all your stuff, but I was looking for a bit of a struggle... instead I find Northmen running around. Your boys must be lost... the battle for you is on the OTHER side of the forest. I'm glad you could make our little party though... my troopers' supplies are running low, and some plump lake town men will help to vary the menu!

Macman

Sam Q
17th October 2003, 10:25 AM
Uh, I forgot to mention that the Northmen have annexed Mirkwood as a nature preserve, save for the elven reservations... er, I mean enclaves. Khamul may as well move out.

I don't officially know what you're talking about. Any northmen in the region must merely be a nature hike... you know, collecting leaves and such.

Your combined DS forces of around 1500 may join us in the night's feastivities, though. We'll be roasting smores. And orcs...

Shrel Kain Forest Sevice
"Don't burn wood, burn orcs."

Macman
17th October 2003, 10:52 AM
Orcs don't burn all that well... The trolls frequently try it, but orcs are uniformly wet and slimy (unless you've put them on noon-hour desert marches of course... then they're sweaty and slimy)

As for the nature preserve thingee... no problem. As tourists, our people in the area are strictly concerned with seeing the sights- and this usually means villages, towns, M.towns, capitals etc... and we bring our own kindling now! We look forward to the celebrity roast you have planned for us!

Macman

Sam Q
17th October 2003, 01:51 PM
Well, we never said it was easy to burn orcs. Just something that needs to be done, like weeding the garden or going to the outhouse. We'll put the torch to orcs, trolls, goblins, manish slaves... whatever you got.

You shouldn't wander so far from home. The forest can be dangerous for the likes of you.

We found Boromir... but I have some bad news.

The wine cellar in which he was hiding (drinking to his misfortune, no doubt) was buried under rubble when a ruined building (a brothel? a library? orcs can't tell the difference) finally collapsed.

By the time we finished escavating, Boromir was justy an icky, pulpy mess. But we could tell it was him because dug him out, he was him because we found his Mighty Blade.

And besides, who else would be hiding in a wine cellar in the ruins of Osgiliath...?

The camp out was awesome! We LOVE northmen... so tender and juicy... didn't put up much resistance- though they ran like the dickens! A good hunt for my 'boys'. Let's hope the woodmen hiding in thier tower are as much fun.

Say- Do you think they Noldo could come down and play too? The last Elven army our team met wasn't terribly exciting- perhaps some of Elrond's brood would prove to be a greater challenge?

The Northmen were merely going for their nature hike. Too bad they didn't realize the amount of mage support you jammed into that army. I guess that just shows the threat level my forces represent. Yeah. I'll go with that.

Brendan, I had a similar experience early last year where all 5 neutrals went against my team. I swore off non-prealligned games myself unless I was a neutral yet I find myself in an open game as an allied nation once again in 233.

Well, this game finally ended today. One turn before I was to land 2000 HC and 33 War Machs in Dol Amroth. Party Poopers. ;)

It would have been nice to know earlier that the remaining Free had conceded so that we wouldn't have to spend the time to plan out another full turn. Oh well.

This is the second time I have been in a 2950 game that has been blown out of the water early on, which is a shame as it is a good scenario.

The biggest shame is that the DS were playing a fantastic game and I would not detract from their early successes by suggesting it was due to our problems with players.

28th January 2004, 08:42 AM
I think the freeps loosing players en masse was pretty instrumental in our doing as well as we did. Just my opinion, but I'll stick to it. Still a very fun game- too bad it had to end so soon!

Corsairs was about to invade SG, curse squads (plural) were about to open fire on Minas Tirith, Noldo and Silvan were about to loose thier capitals, WW was driving into Rohan, Khand was racing into the heartlands of Rhovanion with CL clearing a path and Dragon Lord was starting to march out of Mirkwood- EAST towards dwarves...
