The 2950 scenario

Hi All

I am new to the 2950 setting and have now signed up for my first game. Now I find myself in the problem that contrary to 1650, which has tons of informational stuff and advices for new players, I can not find anything for 2950 ?

Anybody knows where I can find such information ?

Lucinda sight is very old; it was around in mid to late 90's

Both sites have some inaccuracies however Bobin's has actually pdfs for most of the nations.

May be better stuff out there but that should be a start.

Hehe, yes I had considered thinking a bit before sending in orders, but maybe that is too much ;)

Thanks for the info, but I am more looking for articles like the ones Bobbins has for 1650 regarding tactics, do's and don't's etc. for each nation. Is anything like that around that anybody knows of ?

Thing the best tips for 2950 starting is "Watch your economy closely".

Since the positions are so much smaller, it's far easier to go bankrupt than in 1650. Recruit like a god and suddenly you find yourself in deep doodoo.

OK, I guess the EcoCalc of Automagic is handy expecially for 2950.

I like the artwork on the 2950 pdfs, much nicer than 1650, but speaking of finding yourself in deep doodoo, at what time between 1650 and 2950 did Carrog and Celedhring get a sex change operation ? Was that a must from Urzahil for Celedhring to join Drk. Lie. ? (his picture is cool btw IMHO). And isn't Gorthmog supposed to be a huge intimidating demon, not an obese baker's assistent ?

I never found much strategy written about 2950 nations.

It is a game of character and nation development. I generally name 2 30E’s for 20k if needed. Mages casting a 500 point defensive spells can make a difference. Combat artifacts matter since the armies are much smaller. Fortifications actually do something other than just stop movement for one turn and so on.

The "original" Gothmog was the Lord of the Balrogs under Morgoth but the Gothmog from the Lord of the Rings was a troll that was the Witch King's lieutenant and took command of the forces attacking Minas Tirith after the Witch King was killed. So I'd expect that the Gothmog in MEPBM would be a troll and not a demon.

Due to the economic impact of such a move, wouldn't naming 1 (where necessary) for 10,000 and having him name all others at 5,000 be more prudent?

Only 5k difference which is easily made up with sells or gold from the extra camps. T3 you are trying 2 camps, T4 you are trying 4 camps per turn.

If you are only going to name 2 emmys then I would pass on 20k price tag otherwise 5k is a small price for extra camps.

Just my opinion and my style of play though.

OK, so the "Gorthmog" he question is a troll not a demonlord. Guess it makes good sense to take an intimidating name like that for a troll. Guess it is similar to spanish people names "Jesus", muslims name "Mohammed" and danes named "Anders" (Only danes understand the last part)
