I've heard that there is a difference in the ease in which camps can be placed in various terrians. For example forests being harder then plains and easier then mountains.
Any truth to this???
Thanks,
Ken

Urban myth, IMO.

There is a lot of common sense in this game. Simple modifiers on the success of orders follow. Such as "fewer settlers in mountains than on the plains" or "fewer settlers in polar regions than in the warmer parts". Common sense in this world, common sense in ME. IME.

Kitirat, this is much debated.
It would take careful data gathering and very careful analysis to tell.
For instance, many players (including me) believe it's also harder to place a camp as the pc limit approaches, so you couldn't just compare all Forest attempts by E50s -- you'd need to compare them only to other attempts within a given turn. Getting a sufficient sampling size would take care and time.
In other words, I dunno!

Nanook is a classical statistician.
Being a Bayesian, I'm willing to draw conclusions from much smaller samples. Just because data is imperfect does not mean it is useless :)
Yes, I'm off on one of those caffiene induced loco-modes
