Is anyone interested in a War of the Ring game (a variant of 2950 with more pop centers and armies)? I've been thinking about it ever since watching The Two Towers.

Are you looking for a team to play against or just an open start up? i`ve been in both WOTR variants played already, and recommend it despite being on the losing side both times!

I've heard good things about it. I'd be curious to see how it runs.

The War of the Ring shall find he who lives below a willing participant....

Nevermind that I don't have any experience in 2950 at all....just wanna play a variant game....

I don't have a team, but it looks like a couple of you do - I also got an email from someone with a team. You guys should get together and get a game started ;)

I'm mostly looking for individual players or small groups (2-3) here. I don't think it would be much fun for either side to have a team facing a collection of individuals. I think (or at least hope) we can get enough people to form a game this way too.

I've only played in one 2950 game myself ;) The thing is that WotR is more like 1650 but with the 2950 nations.

Actually, we're all part of the same team, David and I and a bunch others.

Oh :) Well, so much for that then. As I said in the email, if you guys wanted to split between the sides that might work. If you really want to play a grudge match though, this probably isn't it. If I come across a DS team I'll pass them along.

The WOTR setup seems like an interesting variant and I would certainly like to try it once, a non-grudge game would be my preference, though beggars cannot be choosers.

I'll setup some nation info sheets for WotR on my website sometime in the next few days if I can. Until then, it's basically taking 2950, adding pop centers to bring things up to 1650 levels (which is basically just adding to the FP). The DS get some bigger starting armies to help balance things out, and their pops are moved up to the usual MTx2 campx4 formula. Those that start with extra (ie WK) have them upgraded.

The most important thing to note though is that any variant game has an extra setup cost. I don't know it off the top of my head, but it should be on the 'fee' sheet put out by MEG. Something around 10-15 USD.

Just let me know when.......I'd prefer the non-grudge game also....I'd be joining with a buddy....that DarkHound character....but that would be it.

I can't really give up the money or the time for much else...

I'm currently in a 1650 game and just sent in a 4th age game so who knows when that will set up.

Groups of 2 or 3 are fine. It's just that if there's a big group on one side, there needs to be one of similar size on the other.

As far as positions, I think probably a lottery or the standard list of 4-5 choices are the best ways. I want to play Rohan - but I assume a lot of people want that at the moment ;)

Is there any opinion on 12v12 with prealigned neutrals vs a regular game (10v10 w/ 5 unaligned neutrals)?

Then make that two. It doesn't matter to me which format 10v10/5 Neuts or 12v12. I prefer the standard 10v10; but if the group prefers no Neutrals so be it.

I'm in, prefer no neutrals, but will play anyway.

I've got a few players vaguely interested in this format. Thing is we have one game of it running at present.

Personally not a fan of 10v10v5 (did you mean 2 Grudge teams?) but it's probably easier to fill than two Grudge teams.

I think we were looking for 12 v 12, but I was more tempted to push for 11 v 11 and eliminate 3 neutral nations. This would make things VERY wide open and VERY interesting.
