Hello there Steve, this is the BS from 57.

How goes it for you freeps? Pochak apologizes for running over your army so early on. Where should we send our condolences?

Hey hey, Long Rider in 57 here.

When all is said and done I'd like to get together for a couple rounds of ent draught. :D

Steve Walker
26th January 2003, 04:10 PM
Dorune, so it was you huh? I cant have been paying enough attention as I'd always assumed it was the Long One that ran me over back then and I've been hoping to catch up with him ever since for some payback. Still at least I made up for it the following turn by offing one of the Nine.
Good game so far, lots of nice little twists, and it could be going for quite some time.

dorune
26th January 2003, 07:20 PM
Yes, offing one of the Nine was embarrassing. Still, we have an abundance of tough guys to step forward to fill his shoes.
How are the Northmen doing? The Long Rider and I have been treating him unkindly and we just wanted him to know that we feel his pain. ;)

Baiting? You mean like this....

"Hey, can whoever has the Ring of Wind please report to hex 3116 this turn? Just want to have a little meet-and-greet. Thanks!"

Like that? :D

Ah the open hills and plains of Gondor....and nothing but a small army to stop me wandering. Where will the plunder begin I wonder?

I commend the forces of Northern Gondor for their battle at Osgiliath - can I have Skarface and Uthmag back please Tarondor

I suppose I will get them anyway when the battle swings round and Tarondor is left troopless in Osgiliath.

Did I miss the storm ?

the only heavy air I felt over the last few weeks was the general stench coming from down south we thought the Elves were cooking something unsavery, they assure us not though and tell us it is coming from Mordor... Ren up to his tricks again.

We have noticed a odd whiff from the east lately too, the Eothraim and Northmen have said they are having some trouble with their neighbours to the south and east making a nuisence of themselves, but nothing they can't handle, brave feisty lot they are too

dear beoraborn,
while you were hugging trees in your tights, prancing about sniffing lillies, we were busy.. look to your map, its the last page in your turn report, prior to your order sheets. see all those eyes on the revealed city / TOWER of 2908..thats not a good sign. but wait, theres more. don't bother telling us from where the northmen sent his dispatches. its called percive secrets. i need that spell, cause a funny thing happen on the way to 2908. we took every northmen starting pop center. hope you upgraded that hidden pop center at 2605..gothmog likes down pillows after a day of slaughter. meet the lite at the end of tunnel

Nice to see that some of you are still in the game. I was getting worried for a while there.

Nice of you to drop by in the Greenwood. I've been expecting you although not just yet. Oh well please stick around and we'll try to make you welcome. Just keep an eye on those maintenance costs (it comes right after the market prices on your turn sheet). We wouldnt want to lose you as well.

Keep your chin up old boy. What's left of you will probably last a few turns yet.

adding a m town / tower to my revenue side, will help my already awesome economy. losing a city should do wonders, for your morale, your income, and the speed at which you are ejected from play. you and the woodmen write with a bit of style. lets see how you play. iraq is looking for a new information minister, your opening interview about 2908 went well.

Sinda57

I like that. It made me smile.

But I said I was expecting you only not just yet. I was just expecting you to arrive a turn later which was a screw up on my part. But take a look at the Dragon Lord map and tell me what you think about those FIVE armies, four of which are a single turn away ! Although it will be a bit smaller than I'd like I'm clearly gonna have 2908 back in 1 turn. Quite surprised youre even thinking about capturing it when destroying it is the only way you can keep it out of my hands.

So here's that advice again - Look at the Dragon Lord map !

Steve, for the Sinda

Raven

Thanks for the pointers on map reading ;) very helpfull !!

but it leaves me a mystified as to the uninspiring demise of your King ,who was not particularley graceful in his exit judging from his e-mail.
Could you not help him out with his finances, give him a few pointers on how to run an economy, is that not one of your strong points or was he surplus to requirements:) glad to be rid of his autocratic highbrow ideas

All this talk of economy reminds me..... How is the Dragon Lord doing anyway and the Angmar.... I mean Mordor Hillbillys, nice neighbours they were a sweet smelling lot in the cold north, I dread to think what the heat of Mordor has done to them, but then again they will fit right in :D they will have even more chance to thin out the poor excuse for Dunadain blood they claim to have

Well that was a very interesting turn. The self-styled Dk Lts "locomotive" went into reverse. I see the Dk Lts took my advice and didnt capture Aradhrynd although I wasnt suggesting just sitting there and waiting for small reinforcments. There are still FIVE armies a turn away from you and 1 of them just got bigger. I even spelled it out for you last turn. "Look at the Dragon Lord map" I said.
And then it struck me - the Dk Lts can't see the Dragon Lord map.

So tell me is that 2 or 3 DS nations down the pan now? Are they Drops or Bankrupties? The rest of you are still putting up a decent fight though so keep it up.

btw Glad to see the guys at ME were able to fix their error with the Fire King turn. Although its a bit worse for us it is clearly the fair thing to do and we wouldnt want to win any other way.:p :p

dear sinda,
too bad your not from the states, so i guess this for your teammates. just cause you slept at a holiday inn express, doesn't make you skilled. you are losing a city, and despite the fact we sat around and waited for reinforcements, you could do nothing. actually, your side did something, not too smart either (raven), but i digress.
just determined the dragon lord is dead eh? well then, heres something else that might have eluded you. the iraq is occupied by our two countries, and theres this diease called SARS. sorry, but you seem so out of contact with events over the last three months. those silly euro coins in your pocket, have never been worth more. oops, missed the train on that one too, eh? the froggies in paris did you one better, it seems.
you should try chess, not checkers. moved off mt gundabad , didn't your little woodmen friend in a predictable attempt to cover your exposed pop center. too little too late. but wait, theres more!
standing on a roadside hex, the woodmen forces discovered they were stuck far from home, between dk lts armies at 3105, and 2305. yes, thats my flag about to be flying from 2305. think i'll hire an army there too. good luck climbing those mountain peaks without any food. to make you feel better, like it served some purpose to move two armies eastward, i'll move foward from 3105 and engage those suddenly expensive armies. nothing i enjoy more then running my heavy cav over woodfolk who left the trees.
i'll have gothmog hit the whistle just as he crushes you under his boots. see you soon at 2508 woodmen, raven, buzzard boy, whatever. in the end, you all taste like chicken to my trolls and orcs.

4th June 2003, 07:22 AM
Well looks like I struck a nerve there Loco. The one good thing that I pick up from your message is that you guys arent dropping yet. We were getting concerned about that seeing as you keep losing nations. But youre doing well enough given that you are now 9v13. Keep it coming.

As for the Euro. A couple of things for you to consider. Yes the Euro is strong in the FX markets but so is Sterling. And remember that Currency rates are relative and the real reason that they are so strong is that the Dollar and the US economy in general are so weak. Thats not a dig at the US by the way in case anyone gets the hump. Its just a fact. The Eurozone economy is getting better but one of the main reasons that the UK government chose not to enter the Euro was that the UK economy was significantly stronger than that of the Eurozone. That still holds even though to a lesser degree.

I hope your grasp of ME economics is better than your grasp on real life economics.:p ;)

Thanks for the laugh. We'll be waiting for that train with baited breath.

Steve:)

TURN 20,

sinda, i await your usual blather. barring the one ring, the freeps have lost this game. whatever rose colored prism you chose to look through, you have lost. the next 5 turns are the opening to the rout. then comes the rout.
woodmen, talk less, and recruit more. 500 hc, gothmog suffered a broken rib from laughing.
cardy..hallas at 3621...please, you have to be kidding. gold thefts aren't gonna hurt anybody on the evil side at this point.
pack it in guys, and start over. this game lacks reason to continue, unless you want to watch your nations reduced 1 by one. if thats your pleasure, so be it.

Mr. Gothmoggie

how I laughed when I read your last couple few posts, your deluded ravings are most entertaining self delusion and madness are a curse the Nazgul carry well, its not surprising you chose Loco-motive to describe yourself, a Freudian slip of sorts one could say, more loco than motive though:D

And about that locomotive, in, out, in, out, did we have some hesitation/ doubt creeping in with your actions in the north quiet rightly so ;) after all your so called "locomotive" came to a grinding halt held up by a few Woodies on ponies there are some more there this turn if you had not noticed and plenty more on the way, (you see my allies generosity known no bounds what with the horsies, the leather, well I could go on) slowly whittling down your locomotive into ineffectiveness :)

Then there is the loss of the 2 Dog armys at 3109 that will be liberated this turn with the help of the Dwarves, so to put it briefly the line has been drawn, the fightback has begun and your days(Turns) are numbered wait and see whats comming at you out of the mountains:D all those battle hardened troops fed up of twiddeling their thumbs and itching for a fight, far better examples of what a locomotive is ;) but you have the Dwarves Woodies and Sinda to deal with first and I almost forgot the Eothraim & Northmen are still making a nuisence of themselves despite all the attention you and Mut boy have heaped on them,,, man that must smart !!

have to go now gor to change my shirt this one is sopping wet from the tears of laughter streaming down my face :D hahahahahaha ...DS winning... hahaha... Locomotive...hahaha...flying pigs...hahaha ....you are a riot!!!

The Eothraim and Northmen are still a nuisance? I know they irritate me, can't seem to find the slippery bastards.. They flee quite well.
The Free seem to talk smack better than anything else. Below are some of the quotes I've heard from Raven and Sinda57...

"There are no Dark Servant infidels in Middle Earth. Never!"

"My feelings - as usual - we will slaughter them all"

"Our initial assessment is that they will all die"

"I blame the "News from Bree" - they are marketing for the Dark Servants!"

"God will roast their stomachs in hell at the hands of Free Peoples."

"They're coming to surrender or be burned on their mounts"

"No I am not scared, and neither should you be!"

"Who are in control, they are not in control of anything - they don't even control themselves!"

"We are not afraid of the Dark Servants. Elrond has condemned them. They are stupid. They are stupid" (dramatic pause) "and they are condemned."

"The Dark Servants, they always depend on a method what I call ... stupid, silly. All I ask is check yourself. Do not in fact repeat their lies."

"I can say, and I am responsible for what I am saying, that they have
started to commit suicide under the walls of Minas Anor. We
will encourage them to commit more suicides quickly."

"I can assure you that those villains will recognize, will discover in appropriate time in the future how stupid they are and how they are pretending things which have never taken place."

"The Dark Servants press is all about lies! All they tell is lies, lies and more lies!"

"I have detailed information about the situation...which completely proves that what they allege are illusions . . . They lie every day."

"Lying is forbidden in Middle Earth. Elrond will tolerate nothing but truthfulness as he is a man of great honor and integrity. Everyone is encouraged to speak freely of the truths evidenced in their eyes and hearts."

"Now even the heart of Mordor is under siege. We are hitting it from the north, east, south and west. We chase them here and they chase us there. But at the end we are the people who are laying siege to them. And it is not them who are besieging us."

Sinda57
4th July 2003, 02:13 PM
Dorune - so which team is it that has let two (or is it three) of its members go to the wall. Even if we didnt know what we were doing we'd win this easily as a straight war of attrition. But as it happens we do know what we're doing and we will grind you all into dust. The only issue is - which nation folds next? My guess would be QA although for all he's done recently he might as well be gone already. I have one request too - can you make sure the Easterling fellow stays in the game I am really hoping to catch up with him at some point.

you wanted a response, here it be.
our cloud lord player, neil sandovakar(sic), took the stealthly approach to this game, and dissappeared without word / trace. not telling you anything you don't already know. that kinda slows things down from our perspective. you got lucky with carrog killing himself on a 30 point commander, that stuff happens.
there really isnt a lot to said. we are leaving you guys openings, and your starting to take advantage.
i'll enjoy the three pop centers i'm gonna take this turn though. got a couple of dragon encounters also. 1 turn from 2508, and 1407.

Mr Muller - actually I am genuinely sorry to here about that. There really is no need for people to do that. We lost our NG player early in the game without any prior warning. Yeah drops can ruin a game. This isn't our first, either. :( I was in another game as the FP and owned the northwest and the plains and were moving on Mordor itself by turn 10 but we dropped en-masse on turn 13 because we had lost 6 players to drops and the consensus was that we preferred not to have every player paying for two nations.

I'm having a lot of fun this game, and I think we're holding our own pretty well despite being outnumbered. I just hate to think that a team's chances of winning are based more on the willpower to stay in the game versus the ability of the players in the game.
