View Full Version : Game 71: How many DS are left to beat up?

Dear Slaves of Sauron,

The FP are curious: how many of you are left? After erasing from Middle-Earth the Doggie and QA capitals this turn, it begs an even more pertinent question? What kind of sick masochists are you? How much of a beating do you require before your satisfied? Give up already!

We have lost two nations in 21 turns and you are asking us to give up? That's kinda funny...

It's the new DS strategy! Hang in there long enough in hopes that the FP will just get bored, lose interest, and quit.

Seriously though, I'm having a good time, and until that ends, I will continue to play.

I hope you guys are having fun, too, since this is what the game is about. (Right?) ;)

Dog Lord is still in the house! (Granted he's currently cowering under a table).

Hey, can't you freeps keep to one thread.

Ren the Fire King still fizzing in the frying pan (having decided the fire was a bit too hot!), along with another 9 fat sausages.

And, yes, I'm still having fun too.

Is it getting really annoying not being quite good enough to nail us to the wall?

svenmoravec

this is fun. :-) think you have the QA down to the wall? Think again. Darn freeps will be hurt by me each turn.

Hey i'm having a Grand time, and damn the torpedoes...I'm going out with a fight..

Not for nothin i'm having a good time, that's what it's all about?

The (un)dead speak!

Only two dropped, eh? Sure... have it your way. This is fun, especially since we are currently (and hope to remain that way) on the giving side of an ass-whuppin'!

I feel for the poor Doggies, hiding under a table. Please help him find another home... so we can blow that one down too!

Dropped!!? You didn't ask how many had dropped; only how many are left. We thought you meant nations, not players.

We decided to follow your lead and have a few regime changes ourselves.

Here the skulls breaking under our united force!

I'm glad that you are enjoying yourselves. I think it is a bit masochistic, but hey, each to his or her likings.

Can somebody please inform the QA that he has no power over us, 'cause this is getting embarassing.

Seriously, why don't you all show a little respect and bow down to the power of the Free!
We have been very reasonable in this game and have spared a lot of characters (and nations) in the hope you would see the same fact. The fact that your defeat is inevitable!

Give up now and spare your selves the embarassment.

So what you're really saying is "we are clearly going to win, so please drop now so we can call it a victory and stop paying for turns."

What's embarassing about losing to a good team? I think you guys are doing a great job. Staying in the game as long as possible gives me more experience, and experience (especially against good players) is a something that I'm willing to continue paying for. I don't see anything embarassing about that. If you guys are so sick of playing, then maybe you guys should just quit. You can always say that you would have won anyway so you just decided to stop "embarassing" us.

Please inform the QA that he has no power over us? Now, underestimating your enemy and believing he cant read for himself, that is a mistake. Should always plan for your enemy to read or write.

If I am powerless, why am I still here? And why do you keep losing a town a turn just by me alone?

:D

Well at least we tried. I didn't think you'd go toes up and quit, but it doesn't hurt to try. I do think this is a great game, best I've had in a while. We'll just continue to apply the beats and see where this goes...

You've got plenty of fight left in ya, I'll grant ya that. It's gettin' a bit crowded in that cesspool you guys call home though. Here's a hygiene tip: Tell Ren to take a bath, you don't want to be all Unclean do you?

You know .... with what I've just seen on my pdf and these unkind comments, I could begin to take things personal (irony)!!

Well, let me weigh in just a bit. First - thank you DS for continuing the game. I don't think it's over until it's over. I've played MEPBM since 1992 and helped figure original stuff out back when Brian and Tom were putting out the Mouth of Sauron. I even wrote the MoS article on NG strategy. What do I think about this particular game? Well, you just never know. If we all just played the early game and gave up after one side or the other got a bit of an edge, a lot of prior games would have been decided quite differently than they eventually came out. So, thanks! Keep up your courage, conviction, and let's hope you keep rolling a few fumbles on all those darn assassinations.

Now, as to a few specifics:

QA - you are definitely being a pain in the backside. But it takes a lot of emmies to take a pop in a turn, and only one (non-assassinated) commander. Also, I think you have been trained using the "new math." where do you think that you're getting one town per turn? Nonetheless, keep your courage up. I hope you're being a nice financial drain on your fellows.
FK - ummm. well, you got some problems. How do you like seeing a Dragon working for the FP? nice, eh? <grin>
Doggie - ummm. well, ditto to above (minus dragon)
CL - I do so hate the CL (nothing personal, but your darn agents
are a major source of irritation. )
and as to the rest - your turn will come. it will come.

Dave
SG & Corsairs

p.s. on the strategy front, why do you have so many characters
in FP capitals (with like 100% loyalties) when we're taking your
capitals left & right??? wouldn't it be better to try to stop our
armies from getting into Mordor??? just curious

svenmoravec

Actually the QA is in the black...not a financial drain at all. :-)

ah well how strange! 2 DS agent companies in SG's capital
and Corsair's capital last turn and only two characters lost!
Of particular interest is that it was mostly a gold theft fest.

We certainly are glad to see the agents retreat back to Mordor
where they belong though! Please stay there. You have more
than enough to do, what with all the FP armies marauding
around destroying DS capitals and all...

Ouch.

Congrats FP, a very well-played game on your part.

I don't suppose 29 assassination in 24 turns is too bad of a showing, was fun while it lasted

What gives? Why is the CL quitting? We haven't even gotten to bash your brains in any!

I'd like to be polite and say "Sorry to see ya go", but I just can't... Your a murdering psycho Ji Indur! Good Riddance to Murder, Inc.! Now take that sicko DinO with ya!

Back to reality:29 is very good indeed, I'm pleased we could maintain momentum with such such active Agent opposition. Well done to my teammates and kudos to the CL, and especially the LR for bagging Elrond early.

Well it has been fun, i have to give it that. My curse team was just having fun, now we have to graze in tha pasture. It looks like Saruman the White gets to live another day, i heard was going to come down with a severe sickness.

Good Job Freep People of game 71.

I just put me head out of the trenches and nobody was trying to put an arrow in it.

What's this ? Did we win ? Do the Dark Servants concede ? Or is it just another of their tricks (luckily I wasn't one of their targets) ?

Please notify Clint if you surrender, although I would like to burn some more Cities, and slaughter more orcs. The only time, I can get away with committing slightly evil acts, is during War.

Well unless I hear something from Clint, I'm going to keep fighting (aka having lots of fun).

Thanks DS for the really nice time.

Yeah, we're conceding. I was trying to get out of sending Clint the message myself, since I just sent the DS concession for game 57 to him two weeks ago...I'm afraid I may be seen as some kind of pariah.

Anyway, I'm planning to send out our concession message to Clint today. Of course, please continue planning until you hear from Clint, it's the prudent thing to do.

Well, its been a good game. Was a nice learning experience being the first game in 15 years or so. Well done Free.

I do hope to meet up with you again either on the same side or opposite.

Blind Sorcerer - if you don't mind sharing what encounter you have with Saruman the White, I'd be interested. I see four of your characters in the village that I see Saruman in and am curious what the encounter is that you get as a DS when you run into him. cheers - SG

Additionally, when this game truly does wind down, I would like to get into a Fourth age game. Would anyone be interested? If so, please email me.

Game # 71 is over.....

I would of tried to Curse Saruman the White to death, he would of had a very bad cold 123.5 points worth.

I recently joined a new game # 233

DaveHolt
17th December 2003, 05:20 PM
Blind Sorceror - I understand that you planned to curse
him. But what encounter did you get for being in the same
hex as a DS with Saruman? I'm guessing that you would
have an encounter. Surely you have an encounter?
Or maybe you'll get it as your characters leave the hex this
turn? thanks,
Dave

Thanks a lot to everyone for this really fun game.

As this was my first game as one of the Free People (and my second in all), I really would like to have a look at some (if not all) pdf's of the Dark Servants. Can any of you please help me in this department ?

If some of you would like pdf's from the free, I have all the pdf's I saw myself. Or you could send a mail to my brother (Cardolan, stefaanboets@hotmail.com), so he can invite you to our yahoogroup, although all pdf's of the first 11 turns have already been deleted.

Now, on to a new game, I hope it will be just as much fun as this one.

Game is over Argeleb II you won we conceded, too many players had dropped w/o notice, 3 of us were not going to take over rest of positions. So time to start a new WAR.
