Well...it took you guys a while but you finally put another one of my Agents in a coffin :)
Frodo RIP! In the end of it all he did his job. 8 Kills before death. One of my Team mates is happy he's dead...but that's a different story :P (at least he was vindicated on the same turn)
Its been yet again another bunch of interesting turns. Emissaries seem to be trying to work their magic everywhere. Killed a bunch that were in Mordor...few more to go!
I see that Cardolan also had a hiding Commander! We'll see how long he lasts. Sorry we blew that bridge again Mr Dunlending...but it was fun :)
Well I better cut this short before my Team mates think I'm giving away too much information. God knows they hate me posting.

Hate is a strong word; I'd call it a 'mild loathing' ;)
I think we should change the name of this game from '1650 #77' to 'The Great Mirkwood Stalemate'. Won't the Eothraim and Sinda ever die?!?

Mild Loathing and all I still like having fun and communicating.
You guys are just to critical and prefer yell at me /shrug :)
I'd rather know my enemy then ignore them. And who really cares if a small peice of information gets leaked here or there? Granted I agree that major information is best not said...but its a game afterall and they are supposed to be fun.

I have also enjoyed the friendly leg-pulling here on these boards (as evidenced probably by the fact that I am the most vocal of my team-mates here :)
I will get back with some more game-specific commentary when I get the time, for now I just wanted to say that I have enjoyed interacting with you folks both in-game and on these boards (although i admit that some of the nasty-troll film productions have turned my stomach a bit :))

Who knows, perhaps Frodo was the first of many? We never liked the Cloud Lord's ugly mugs taking up cute hobbit names...
The Great Mirkwood Stalemate???!!! Are you sure 'stalemate' is the right word? I thought that in order to have a 'stalemate' you needed two sides locked in battle, with noone able to gain the upper hand. As it happens, I can only see one side in Mirkwood, holding many cities, major towns and towns. Perhaps you refer to the one town you temporarily hold just _outside_ Mirkwood? Pah, noone knows what the future holds, and perhaps three turns down the road you'll get near to giving a good fight up here, but at the moment Mirkwood is as free as it gets :p
We couldn't believe that Carrog escaped with his life yet again! The elves (me and the Noldo) give up, anyone else wants to try?
Also we did have a few nasty mistakes this turn. In case you were wondering what very clever ploy we had in mind when letting the FK armies escape at Ithil... ermm... we didn't :) Just messed up with the orders.
Anyway, this turn definitely looks much brighter than two turns ago, we have some pieces in good positions on the board. But if it all comes upside down it will not be the first time, or the last, right?
Game on :)

We hold more then just a town outside Mirkwood :)
How many MT's have we burned from the Eothraim? If the Dog Lord could actually suceed a Threaten order they wouldn't have that village either. How long do you think you'll hold onto that last Eothraim MT in that area? I can't see it being that 'free' heh. Not like you guys have that many troops in that area. We definitely aren't done with Mirkwood and don't see that much opposition in the area. Or you just hoping we get lost in the forest somehow?
Are you guys still licking your wounds from your last rush at Mordor? The rush that netted you...hrm... how many dead characters? ... that's what I thought :p Turn 21 and you got as far as FK Capital and Carach Angren. Mordor flourishes and you are scared! Admit it :) I guess we should thank you for letting us keep the FK armies then? heh They'll be sure to thank you guys personally.
If you think you can keep getting lucky with your Agents...so be it. But luck will only get you so far. You aren't Carrog after all! You kicking Gildor for not refusing yet? Lots more dead characters to be had in the upcoming turns...as for which is next. Will have to wait till you get the results of the slaughter!
P.S. It took you two tries to kill Frodo btw. And you had to remove his Ring before you suceeded. Better put that thing to good use. Who knows how long you'll keep it :)

I was really wondering what NG was thinking! I'm glad it was just a screw up rather than a designed play hehe.
Next couple turns are going to be intresting.
Going to be intresting to see where all your emissaries that you keep touting are... or did CL kill them all? hehe I personally don't think it was just 2 dorfs and a noldo emissary! so like where are you hidding the rest?
Nice play on Warfinger btw, that annoyed the LR hehe.

Well, yes, two Dwarven characters released. About time we had some good news, even though we're still waiting to see some good luck on our side :)
I am still recovering from the order mix-up I did last turn, wasting fine NG infantry right at the doorstep of the FK's capital. And now my mistake has returned with a vengeance (and a dragon) :)
So, I will be brief: you guys have imagination, and that's a fine quality for people playing strategy games. I'll grant you that. In my humble opinion, this is the toughest game so far for our team. I've enjoyed it vastly :)
So, have fun with the rest of the game. (Especially if you're the WK, enjoy every day as if it is your last, because maybe it will be :D)
Thanks for a very good challenge guys!

I think some of the recient success with agents from your side would constitute good luck hehe.
I am still recovering from the order mix-up I did last turn
That was an unfortunate mix-up for you, good for us hehe. We've had a number of order mix-up's or other avoidable screw-up's that have hurt us... but then those always happen.
This has definatly been a fun and challenging game though :)

Hola!
I gotta say, it's taking a lot longer than I expected to oust the Corsairs from the south... every turn, I end up saying something along the lines of "Gah, well we'll go back to that [insert Corsair MT here] in a couple turns..."
This is a fun game!

Where are my friendly freep foes?

Still here, still here! It's getting a bit grim but we're still fighting the good fight.
Good to hear the Corsairs campaign has its rough edges, though between dragons and agents it should be a matter of time...
Some of us said, the enemy agents in Fornost Erain will probably just guard each other. To that I said, let them guard against our (insert rank here) agent carrying the Ring of Curufin. Oh welll... ;)
You don't have to answer at this point of course, but did the dog lord try to move from 3112? I am just curious if it was my 'stand and defend' order or if you just had better things to do in the hex.
All in all we're happy, we like uphill struggles :P
El Gringo
17th December 2003, 06:59 AM
Your successful stand & defend made for one irate Doggie :) ...I don't mind admitting it because I'm not him hah!
Zalendar
17th December 2003, 07:23 AM
Not only that but he failed to move evasively! I'm not the Doggie either... hehe
Well the one carrying the Ring of Curufin tried to go for the one that Samwise was guarding, a very high natural agent.
All the Corsairs pop centers will be mine!.... eventually... maybe... hehe
Little question... heh why is Gondor moving an army down south to Harad, when FK is sitting on Minas Anor with a dragon? :) omg tell him to leave me alone and tend to his own area!
Elendar
17th December 2003, 09:02 AM
Why would he go against the army WITH the dragon?
But I am not the N Gondor either, and the full extend of Taraondor's plans are difficult even for elven minds to grasp ;)
Zalendar

Well you and S Gondor caused enough destruction in my northern area. My populance is still suffering from the results of that!

Hey, I don't mind if you go raze some Harad PC's....will make him get off his lazy but and help out for once :)
How are the Gondorians feeling of late?
We have decided to rename the Fire King nation to the Dragon Lord II.

Hello there,
Did I mention how much I admire the DkLts offensive in the north? You guys created a whole new PC somewhere in the north, hired a HC army, put Gothmog on the lead... and here we are, the FPs lost three towns. This army moves like the wind. Good move, good planning, your most inventive surprise so far I believe.
As for the dragons, I must say that all of you should change names to "Dragon Lords", this isn't funny anymore. Do you also have dragons following your commercial caravans as well? And what about your companies? If there's a chance we meet one of your emissaries companies with a dragon in its ranks, I want to know it now :)
Well, we have some surprises of our own coming, just to keep you busy. I still believe that each DS had more luck in this game than all the FPs put together, but I won't elaborate here because my allies accuse me of whining ;)
Let's see...
Elendar

You're whining again!!! You're doing it!!!
El Gringo
21st December 2003, 07:09 PM
hahaha that's funny...
Yeah, I'm pretty happy with Gothmogs success in the NE... a cav army is a lot of fun when you put a gajillion food in it!
Now this _may_ make you cry, but there have been a number of times (probably 2-4, I'd have to look back and check) where we had dragons to recruit but didn't bother because we didn't have any dragon-free armies that could use them.
I hope you guys are up for a turn-around game after this one!

Well...maybe after this game you'll see what guard you were 'thinking' you could blow through with the Ring of Curifin :) hehe. I get the feeling you might be a bit surprised.
We finally have some actual Offensive movement from our end in the NW as well. Lets see what pans out there. True we lost 1806 to some surprised War Machines...but that was but a tickle :P
Next couple of turns will be interesting of course. Always something interesting happening.
Edit:
Oh...and as for the Dragons. When/if we ever exchange PDF's you'll see how that was all on our side. We didn't use any sort of slight of hand or slyness in aquiring them.

One more interesting turn, although our side does not exactly have the upper hand. What happened with Lomelinde must have been really anti-climax, but we deserved that luck for turns now.
By the way, Lomelinde's death was for Dudannis...

Sure sure.... my teamates horde all the good luck, and manage to only hand out the bad luck to the Long Rider....guess that's what I get for joining last.
Enjoy this moment for the time....I shall return

Hrm...
Oh what to say...what to say... :)
Maire Stormcraft will pay! I look forward to finding out exactly how you knew he was there though or if it was a lucky guess. Locating a 10pt Stealth artifact doesn't seem worth it heh (I've lost that artifact too many times now). We'll pry that info from Bucca Broadsword for now :D
So what exactly are the Corsairs doing btw? They are DE-Building?
Finally after 25 turns you bag your first Nazgul. Long Rider hasn't had the best of luck with Characters :) The rest of us mourn his lose...retribution shall be harsh and dealt soon enough.
Are you guys still feeling all warm and fuzzy in Mirkwood? :)
I also send word from the Witch King (he's too unsociable to post himself so...). He says thanks for Bree. Its a Cozy place and he plans to stay for a while. Arthedain themselves too busy to help and need the Noldo? heheh
Oh...the goading...sometimes its fun :)
Maybe I'll post more JUST to attract the anger from my teammates. It'll make it more exciting.

Oh...yeah. Why did Tarondor turn tail and run again?
I fully expect that when we finally run into Tarondor he'll be wearing a big Chicken Outfit and advertising for Kentucky Fried Chicken.
And blowing the Bridge at Anor wasn't nice of you. :D
