Or to put it more topically, 2950 is Figure Skating, 1650 is Icehockey

It's perfectly reasonable for people to state a preference and argue
the reasons for that preference (or why one thinks it is better) for
the benefit of those who may not have tried, or tried adequately,
both scenarios.

Not quite. It's 2950 with some tweaks designed to more accurately
reflect the book. That includes some DS hordes poised to pour out of
Mordor, some character tweaks and some more pops - not to 1650 levels
though. The description of the variant on
http://www.middleearthgames.com/modvar.html#wotr is misleading. The
WotR pdf does not appear to be on the ME site, but I can send it to
anyone who e-mails me direct.

if you dont like 2950 because its harder then i understand.
if you like a challenge then play the harder formats.

1650 should never be scrapped. its the next step from Bofa imo.
